• The stay permitted by this visa cannot be extended, adjusted, or changed once approved.
• One transit visa allows only one person, and dependents cannot be brought along with this visa.
• The validity of a C1 visa is very short. It allows you to stay for a maximum of 29 days or till the departure date on your ticket from the US, whichever is earlier.

• A valid passport with at least one blank page for the visa to be affixed.
• A recent photograph complying with the rules set by the US authorities.

Details of the US D Visa

• This visa is issued only for crew members of international airlines and commercial ships.
• This visa allows the crew members to stay in the US for a maximum of 29 days.
• The crew members with a D Visa can leave the dock or airport but must leave the US within 29 days of arrival.
• The D Visa processing time varies from 3 to 5 days or even up to 2 weeks, depending on the workload of the US Embassy.

Requirements of the US D Visa

To get hold of a D Visa, an applicant should belong to the following job profiles:

• Flight attendant or pilot on a commercial airplane
• Captain, deckhand, or engineer on a sea vessel
• Lifeguard, waiter, cook, or other supporting staff on cruise ships
• Trainee on board of a training vessel

Individuals who belong to the following job profiles are not eligible for D Visa:

• Dry dock workers who work when the ship is anchored at any US port
• A fishing vessel’s occupants with its operating base or home port in the US
• Ad hoc coasting officer
• Crew of a private yacht which will be anchored in the US for more than 29 days
• Sailors  on a vessel going to the Outer Continental Shelf

• A letter from your company or employer stating your purpose of visit along with the following details:

  2. Duration of your stay in the US
  3. Date and port of entry and exit
  4. Your job profile, along with your job description and responsibilities
  5. Your pay slips while in the US
• Proof of your relations to your home country includes family documents, property deeds, and job contract to prove that you will not stay in the US for more than 29 days.
• Work records copies from your employer.
• Your Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC).
• A copy of your travel authorization details from your company.
• Your qualifications and educational details.
• Police clearance report stating that you do not have any prior criminal records.
